Red Jacket Parents/Guardians,
First, let me say thank you for everything you have done for your children during this unprecedented time. I am humbled by the work that our teachers, and you as parents, have done to keep our Red Jacket students growing as learners. The new normal has not been an easy adjustment for any of us, but we do what is best for our kids, one another, and our community. As you know, Governor Cumo has closed schools for the remainder of this school year. Please keep doing what you have been doing, encourage your children to keep working hard, communicate with your child's teacher, and let us know if we can help you in any way.
Many teachers still have student materials/belongings in their classrooms. We have established a schedule for the pick-up of these items. On pick up days, we ask that you enter the elementary school through the UPK parent pick-up door between 10 am and 12 pm. Student items will be bagged, labeled, and available for pick up in the elementary school gym.
Pick Up Days (Week of May 18th-22nd)
Kindergarten (Mr. Davis & Mrs. Liebowitz) - Monday, May 18, 2020
1st Grade and Multi-age Classes - All necessary materials at this time have already been sent home
2nd Grade - Wednesday, May 20, 2020
3rd Grade - Tuesday, May 19, 2020
4th Grade -Friday, May 22, 2020
5th Grade - Thursday, May 21, 2020
The teachers will not be in attendance on these days.
We would ask that anyone coming to pick up materials wear a mask. We will have a collection box available for parents to return school library books, so please ask your child if their book (s) are at home. The students will not be returning Chromebooks until they return to school in the fall, so please keep them over the summer. If you, a loved one, or a friend are not able to come to pick up your child's materials, please call the main office at 585-289-9647 or email me directly at [email protected]. to make other arrangements.
Finally, in the coming weeks, the staff in the elementary school will begin the process of placing students in classes for the 2020-2021 school year. This process is done collaboratively and numerous factors are considered. We value your input in this process as well. Please submit input using the link found in this email or go to the elementary school website and click on the news article titled, "Family Input Form." We will not be able to consider input forms received after May 22nd.
Thank you again for your continued support of our school and your children. Happy Mother's Day to all of our RJ moms! Stay safe!
