Special Areas

Art
Students create artwork using 21st Century skills, as well as practice making art through traditional methods such as: drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, etc. Students are encouraged to explore their own creativity in an environment that encourages, as well as fosters, diverse thinking. Our program introduces the elements of art (line, shape, space, value, color, form, and texture) to the young art student, and challenges the students to identify them in their artwork.

- a Thinker - Using inquiry to build understanding and create new knowledge
- an Explorer - Pursuing personal and aesthetic growth
- a Citizen - Demonstrating social responsibility.
Physical Education
Our Physical Educators responsibilities are teaching students how to lead a healthy life. Students are introduced to a variety of movement activities, exercises, and sports. Our curriculum provides opportunities for our students to grow physically, socially, and emotionally. Students are provided an environment that focuses on trying their best, positive sportsmanship, and being respectful. Red Jacket Elementary School’s Physical Education program provides students with opportunities to learn healthy habits and have fun!

Red Jacket elementary students practice active, respectful listening, playing a variety of instruments, reading and notating music and improvising and composing. Students are exposed to a varied repertoire of music to help them develop an appreciation for all types of music and to develop an understanding of music in relation to history, culture, the other arts, and disciplines outside the arts.
